You can choose from either unfinished, stained & lacquered or hand painted. Unfinished is bare wood inside and out. The ‘stain’ from the stained & lacquered option is the colour and the lacquer is the smooth finish ideal for easy cleaning. We have a ‘victoria’ stain which is a darker colour, or a ‘bleach’ stain, which is lighter. This finish can be applied for the interior and the exterior. Hand painted - which is our most popular option - consits of 5 coats of paint minimum when finished. We use 2 coats of primer, which holds back any knots and dark grain, followed by 3 coats of any Farrow & Ball colour of choice. The interior of any hand painted unit will be stained & lacquered in either ‘victoria’ or ‘bleach’. We have perfected our hand painting process over the years and the process of hand painting, and the subsequent sanding in between each coat, is to encourage the natural grain out over time. This gives a beautiful warmth as opposed to a shiny sprayed finish.
